Getting to know her:

What is your favorite book of all time?

A very dear childhood friend just sent me a book for my birthday. It came at a perfect time and so appropriate for where I am in my life! The title is “Twenty Wishes” by Debbie Macomber. It tells the story of older women who commit to making a list of 20 wishes and what they learn about themselves in their pursuit of their list. It is a lovely story and very fitting for Silver Vixens.

Where have you enjoyed visiting the most?
I have been fortunate to travel a fair amount in my life. I love to travel, see new sites, learn about art and history, and experiment with new cuisines. However, lately the best destination I can think of is visiting with my grandchildren. Be it ever so simple, that is where I get the most warm fuzzies, endless smiles and hugs, and deep feelings of satisfaction, hope and humor.

If you had an extra million dollars, what would you do with it?
I guess the operative word here is…extra. I think the real challenge is what would I do with my money if it wasn’t extra? How can I feel generous even with a few dollars and end up just feeling like a million bucks?

Who would you like to have dinner with and where?
I’d love to have dinner with my parents again in the house where I grew up. We’d sit at the familiar white kitchen table and talk about everyday things. I can hear my father’s witty remarks that made us all laugh, my grandmother would serve hot strudel fresh from the oven and my mother would dote lovingly on my brothers and me. Ahh, what sweet memories!

Where would you love your next vacation to be?
I would love to take a vacation for a few weeks to Argentina and spend all of that time learning how to dance the tango. I’ve heard of tours that offer individual dance instructors and daily lessons. What better place to learn this complex romantic dance than the country that brought it to the world!

Favorite color and why?
I love the color pink. I always feel so good when I wear that color. To me it is soft, feminine, and luxurious.

What were you wearing when you felt the most glamorous?
I felt the most glamorous at my son’s wedding. I decided to spare no costs to get just the right dress, which was a navy blue gown with tiny crystal beads that gently reflected the light. However when I look back at the photos, I realize it wasn’t the dress that made me feel glamorous; it was how I felt about myself during that time. The previous year, I’d committed to a rigorous exercise routine. I felt so good and looked like a picture of health! It was a memorable time of confidence and competence.
