Where are all the water bottles?

We are in New York for a few days for a family trip. Yes, it is definitely hot and steamy to this Silver Vixen's delicate thermostat -- I can barely tell the hot flashes from the ambient temperature! As I have been walking all over Manhattan and taking the subways, I have just realized something -- I don't see the ubiquitous water bottles! In Chicago, everywhere you look there are people carrying water bottles. Not so here. We know that Manhattan is the epicenter of United States chic and yet the women don't seem obsessed with hydrating, hydrating, hydrating. I wonder why not? Or are those ugly plastic bottles simply inelegant? Hmmmm....
